What to Expect

If you seek services from The Center for Mental Health, expect that your individual therapy appointment will take about an hour. Group therapy can take up to an hour and a half. For some services, such as psychiatric evaluations, there are short wait times before an appointment is scheduled.

You will go through a required intake process which includes filling out papers and answering a series of questions. This helps us provide the best care possible for your individual situation. Intake appointments take about two hours. Expect that you will receive excellent, client-centered care using the best in evidence-based practices.

Payment for services is expected at the time of the appointment. The Center offers a sliding fee scale based on income and family size for self-pay clients.  We accept Medicaid, Medicare, and most insurances. If you are going to request a fee reduction using the sliding fee scale, you will need to bring proof of income with you to the appointment.

Our quality improvement team is constantly searching for better ways to provide care. We seek feedback from clients through surveys so that we might improve our processes and our programs. If we ever fail to meet your standard of care or if you feel that your rights have not been respected, we ask that you first attempt to solve the problem by talking to the person involved or by talking to the Regional Manager for the clinic in which you are being served. If you are not satisfied with the outcome of these steps, you can contact the Center’s consumer representative for assistance or to file a complaint.
