Non-Clinical Programs
Through the Office of Member and Family Affairs, The Center serves the public with no fee programs and services. These grassroots programs, focused on mental wellness, are offered through health fairs, training and education, collaborative partnerships, and peer programs.
The focus of all programs offered by the Office of Member and Family Affairs is one of recovery and rehabilitation. Through rehabilitation services, we provide the skills and supports to maintain and sustain independence.
Peer Programs are an important part of the recovery journey. Peer support is the “act of people who have had similar experiences with mental illnesses giving each other encouragement, hope, assistance, guidance and understanding that aide in recovery.” Our peer specialists are trained and educated to serve in this role.
Peer Specialists understand how hard it is to get back parts of your life that you have lost. They know how much of a struggle it often is just to make it through the day. They understand the negative impact of the side effects of medications. They know how easy it is to become dependent and to lose one’s belief in one’s abilities. They know how deep the sense of guilt, hopelessness, and regret can be. Peer Specialists can help you find the joy of moving beyond the limits so often placed on you. They know the difference in empathy and pity. Peer Specialists are here to help and are just a phone call away….(970) 252-3200.

The Center for Mental Health provides a free online screening that you may take anonymously. The screening is provided so you may find out -- in a few minutes -- whether or not professional consultation would be helpful to you. At the end of each anonymous screening you will receive an immediate result that can be printed and taken to a clinician for further evaluation. A screening test is not a substitute for a complete evaluation but it can help you learn if your symptoms are consistent with depression, bipolar disorder, an alcohol problem, an eating disorder, an anxiety disorder or post-traumatic stress disorder, and how to access help. This program is designed for individuals ages 17 and above and is completely confidential. Click on the link to begin.
Sometimes it's easier when you don't have to go it alone. If you would like to connect to an on-line support community, you might check out Mental Health America. Click here for a link.
